The Head of Hydrology Department and the senior Scientific Officer went to Ayede by the directive of the Managing Director of BORBDA- Engr. Saliu O. Ahmed. The purpose of the visit was to carry out stream flow measurement and bathymetry survey of the Ayede Dam with the prime purpose of establishing the current reservoir capacity and recharge rate of the Ayede Dam in Ekiti State.
It’s a small Dam with the height of 13 meters, crest length of 326, and a reservoir capacity of 1.5mcm at completion in 1979. Over the years, siltation has set in which necessitated the need to confirm the current reservoir capacity and other important parameters of the Dam.
The dam which was conceived for water supply and irrigation in the communities of Isan, Ilemoso, Ilafon, Oloje, Ifaji, Imojo, Aiyegbaju, Ilupeju, Ire, Itapa, Osin, Iselu, Omu Odo, Omuoke, Igede, Ifaki, Are, Afao, Oye and enivirons Ekiti State is located on the Oye River Southwest of Ayede Town. There is an easy access through Itaji – Ayede road.
